This morning, I read Proverbs 30 as part of my quiet time. It reminded me of a song I sang in college by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, “He’s Been Faithful.” In my younger years, I experienced abuse at the hands of a family member. So, when this song came out in 1991, I sang it with deep conviction knowing God would always prove faithful to me. Yet, over the decades, I’ve learned that in my teen years, I barely scratched the surface on understanding the faithfulness of the Lord. Each year, I continue to learn that every Word from Him always proves true. I’ve been as low as a person can go. “But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me” (2 Timothy 4:17).
If you’re wrestling with believing in God’s goodness today, hang on tight to Him and don’t let go. He is faithful. He is good. And His words always prove true. He will never leave you. He will give you continued strength for each new day.
The rose in this photo is from a small rose plant I purchased at the local grocery store. It bloomed a few times and then went dormant. But then, I placed it in a larger pot with nutrient-rich potting soil, added some rose food, and now it is blooming all over again. Even when we feel our blooming season has passed, or our blossoms have faded for good, the Lord will oftentimes transplant us and fill us with strength and nourishment to once again yield a beautiful bloom for Him.
Lord, thank you for always being faithful. Teach us to trust in You more and more each day. Amen.
